Parris misses out on England squadScored 15 goals in last 16 gamesLionesses boss Wiegman explains omissionWHAT HAPPENED?
Parris has been on fire for Manchester United as of late, netting seven times in her last six outings, with many expecting her to earn an England recall this month as a result. However, the forward was not included when Wiegman announced her squad for the Lionesses' February fixtures on Tuesday.

Speaking in her press conference on Tuesday, Wiegman said of Parris' omission: "Of course, the competition up front is really high. In autumn, she didn't play that much and, because of the competition, too, I made other decisions. Now, since the New Year, she's played in the No.9 position and she's done really well. Of course, we've noticed that too, so I had a little chat with her and I hope she shows consistency, because we’re talking about her again, but I made some other choices now for this camp with the players we have. They have done really well, too. It was a hard decision."
Asked about the Man Utd forward again, Wiegman added: "I had a conversation with her in autumn, a couple. That was a different situation. Now, I had a short conversation with her yesterday and I explained a little bit and that's now just the way it is. I think we're in a luxury position that we have many players up front, not only in the No.9 position but also on the wing, that it is so competitive that I have to make hard choices and some players that are doing really well, I need to keep out. She's available and she knows we're watching her very closely."

England have an incredibly talented group of forwards to pick from and the six Wiegman chose for this camp outline just how tough the competition is in that area, with Rachel Daly, Lauren Hemp, Lauren James, Chloe Kelly, Beth Mead and Alessia Russo making up her options for these February fixtures. Though listed among the midfielders, Jess Park and Grace Clinton can both play out wide, too.

Only three players have scored more goals than Parris in the Women's Super League this season, those being Chelsea star James, Man City forward Khadija Shaw and Brighton's Elisabeth Terland. She is Man Utd's top-scorer in the competition.
